Research/Training

CBR provides an institutional umbrella for multi-disciplinary research in a wide range of fields and interests. These include Basic Research that is intended to inform/influence policy as well as national agenda and general consultancy and technical support to development agencies, government, and non-government organizations through commissioned studies. CBR's research capacity building capabilities have extended outside CBR through intensive training programs to affiliated organizations and group individuals

Affiliation/Membership

Affiliation to CBR can be by a resident individual, resident institution, non-resident individual, and non-resident institution. All the categories would be entitled to unlimited access to library documents within the library, receive the annual report for CBR free of charge, 50% discount on photocopying charges, internet services, access to available computers for their work, and use of our kitchen. Affiliates will also be entitled to participate in Public Lectures and Seminars covered by the organization. The subscription for affiliation is for a period of one year. A temporary identification will be issued to the concerned parties upon payment of the affiliation fees.

Note

Affiliation shall not automatically entitle any individual or institution to use other research facilities of the institution. These include the use of photocopying services, computers, and borrowing library books. Borrowing rights will be extended only individually to an affiliate involved in research considered by the centre to be of benefit to the local community.

Library

CBR has plans to set up a lending library. Through this, we hope to bring our accumulated experience in identifying and collecting educational material on social .political and economic issues .

Music Archive

Under the Enhancing Research Capacity (ENRECA) Urban Cultures Project, CBR has collected and organized a popular music archive, the only one of its kind in Uganda. The objective of this archive is to constrict a repository that not only preserves representative samples of Ugandan popular music, but also actively facilitates research into growth of popular cultural forms in Uganda.
The CBR library operates a documentation service that provides newspaper clipping service and collection of conference /seminar papers and other unpublished materials that fall within the CBR research agenda. The newspaper cutting service covers more than 70 thematic areas starting from April 1989 and continues to present from Ugandan news paper publications.
