Second Seminar of the Elections book: Navigating Uganda’s political future: Tectonic Shifts, Trends, and Contestations in the 2026 Elections and Beyond

Reflecting on the 2nd Seminar of the Centre for Basic Research’s Book Project: Navigating Uganda’s Political Future

We are thrilled to share the success of our second seminar, which brought together experts, stakeholders, and partners to discuss Uganda’s electoral landscape as we prepare for the 2026 elections.

Special thanks to Uganda Electoral Commission for their invaluable participation, helping us explore critical questions such as:
✔️ Will electoral reforms be passed?
✔️ How independent is the Electoral Commission?
✔️ How can we curb intimidating language during elections?
✔️ Will public media ensure equal access for all?

Highlights included:
🔸 Dr. Simba K. Sallie emphasized the importance of inclusivity by registering Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) as voters, candidates, and presiding officers, with lists soon available for public feedback.
🔸 SR Rwengabo, PhD reminded us that strong institutions, accurate voter registers, and clear processes at the Electoral commission Uganda are the backbone of free and fair elections.

This dialogue is a step towards actionable solutions for a democratic and inclusive Uganda. Let’s keep the momentum going as we navigate Uganda’s political future together.

Project Title

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth.
