On behalf of the Conflict Early Warning and Response Unit (CEWERU) in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is also the National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALWs), CBR has since 2002, been serving as the IGAD’s Conflict Early Warning and Response Mechanism (CEWARN) 1st ever National Research Institute(NRI). CBR served in that capacity till 2018. In 2019, when the functions of the NRI were restructured, following the coming on board of the IGAD Promoting Peace and Stability in the Horn of Africa Region (IPPSHAR) programme under the IGAD Peace and Security Division, CBR was retained the IGAD CEWARN/CEWERU National Research Institute (NRI) under different terms of reference. CBR was retained to produce Quarterly Country Specific Analytical products (including trend analysis) on Governance and Economy sectors. This activity was implemented throughout 2021.
